海産動物の適応と種分化に関して生態学ならびに行動学的研究

現在の研究内容

主な研究材料は甲殻綱短尾類である。海を起源とするカニ類の一部のグループは陸上に進出している。彼らは、形態、生理および行動を進化させることで陸上生活に適応している。潮間帯などを棲息場所とするカニ類は陸上生活への過渡期にあり,どの様な過程を経て陸上生活に適応してゆくのかを示す有効な材料と考えられる。様々な環境に棲息している半陸生カニ類の生態と環境との関係の解明を通して,カニ類の適応と種分化、ならびに進化の過程の解明をめざしている.ここ数年,旧世界(東南アジア)と新世界(中央アメリカ)のスナガニ科シオマネキ属のカニ類を材料として研究を進めている。
